Please meet a 19 year old that is enjoying his youth, building for the future, and making some serious cash. This is Shawn Pollard from Chester Vermont. Shawn graduated from our heavy equipment and truck driver training back in August of 2003. Shawn took to the heavy equipment as if he was born on a dozer. He learned to operate all the equipment without any problems. He did struggle a bit with the truck training. It seems the 10 speed transmissions were a “handful.”

Please meet Calvin Laster. Calvin successfully completed our Heavy Equipment Operators Program back in August of 2003. Since then he has been operating a variety of equipment for Wayne Brothers in Davidson, North Carolina. Calvin was fortunate to have employment with Wayne Brothers before starting school. Unfortunately it was doing something he no longer enjoyed doing. Although it paid well, Calvin wanted to do more than drive a tanker truck for Wayne Brothers.

Calvin wanted more of a challenge in his life. This desire led him to National Heavy Equipment Operators School. He did very well in school with us. He scored a perfect score in attitude and as far as skill sets; Calvin scored 549 points out of a possible 600 on the equipment. When he left us, Calvin was trained to operate the lion’s share of Wayne Brothers excavating equipment. Calvin routinely operates Bobcat mini’s, John Deere Dozers, and the John Deere 330 Excavator. Calvin has done so well that he is now assigned to a grading crew.

Computer consultants tend to make a lot of money. They can command impressive fees if they are really good. They work indoors and meet new people frequently. Unfortunately, many of there jobs have been exported to India and other parts outside the US. Mr. Ken Jello was a very good computer systems consultant. But with a yearning desire to be out-of-doors, he opted to pursue a life-long interest in heavy equipment. Ken contacted Frank DeMarco of National’s Admissions Department. The two gentlemen discussed career goals and training options for a spell. Frank overwhelmingly endorsed Ken’s acceptance into the earth moving training track.

Ken was luckier than some, as his family already owned a construction company. One of Ken’s desires was to learn all the equipment National Heavy Equipment Operators School offers well enough to help grow the family business. Besides, No one in India can dig a trench for pipe installation over a 1-800 number!

When a man is faced with the reality that his family must be cared for no matter what, he gets into gear. We will do almost anything that we can within the law to make sure our loved ones want for nothing. Mr. Glen Bonit recently faced this reality. Glen has a wife and two small children. His career as a construction electrician’s helper was not taking care of his family the way he wanted.

Glen enrolled in our Heavy Equipment Operators program and graduated in October of last year. Glen is now a highly skilled, highly motivated professional equipment operator. While in training he not only learned how to complete typical construction projects with bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes, he learned where the money is.

National Heavy Equipment Operators School is pleased to recognize Mr. Dean Harris as a featured graduate. We chose Dean because he displayed tremendous courage in making a career change. Dean has placed a premium on his family that we salute.

Prior to becoming a gainful heavy equipment operator, Dean owned and operated his own business. Dean fed his family by operating full motion simulators as an amusement for folks in places like shopping malls. Malls usually cater to the public from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM or later, 7 days a week. This left very little time for Dean to spend with his family. Dean had tried other professions too. He dabbled in general contracting and even janitorial serves. All took there toll on Dean and his family. Dean had had enough of dealing with the public. He was also quite tired of not being able spend time with his loved ones.
